We stayed at Chesapeake Bay RV Resort in August of 2018. Campground is clean with few lots excessively muddy after heavy rain. Like other thousand trails campgrounds, this one does a soft check in with the final check in after you've found your site and set up. Like other thousand trails campgrounds, this one does a soft check in with the final check in after you've found your site and set up. This trip we spent 40 minutes and 3 trips around this large park looking for a site for our 32' camper and 14' truck. Of the 8 sites available that were full hook up, we fit in the last one we found. Most campgrounds either assign sites or keep a dry erase map and mark off occupied sites. I suggested the latter to the ranger on duty when he was overwhelmed with check in because his fellow ranger was driving the campground writing down available spaces. He liked the idea and said it would make their job easier. Bathhouses are clean and stocked with soap and paper towels. They have an adult and a family pool. The adult pool is shallow and warm. It has a large sun shelf that's about a foot or so deep. The deeper area has a volleyball net. I found that to actually swim, I was better off and cooler in the family pool. Fishing was not happening this trip with the crabs running. I wished I brought my crab traps instead of fishing gear. We brought our golf cart this time and were disappointed to find out we couldn't take it or drive our vehicle to the bathhouse for a shower after 11pm. That meant watching the clock and getting up there by 10:30. I understand quiet time and am a firm believer but not being able to drive to the bath house that is not close is not right. What's the point in a shower if you're soaked with sweat by the time you walk back to your camper? The spa had just reopened, we found it to not be turning on when we went in. There are plenty of amenities to keep all ages occupied. Overall, my family had a great time, the weather cooperated and the mosquitos weren't too terrible. We will be back again next year!
