At a recommendation from a fellow Full Time Traveler. I checked out Southern Hills RV. I stayed a month, there was so much to do in SD. The RV Park is amazing, the owners, Kathy and Charlie made me feel at home. Because of COVID-19 the bathrooms were closed, but no different then other EV Campgrounds March on. The bathrooms were being remodeled, I took a peak in...looking nice. Laundry was not over priced, in and out in under 2 hours (2 full loads). All pull thru sites, lots of room between RV's,... All pull thru sites, lots of room between RV's, very level, grass, small concrete patio and picnic table. Very friendly RV park, lots of people stay more then a day or two, I left with several new RV friends. Oh..and an Ice Cream Social. Local restaurant on site, great food, the Beef is locally grown. Pop's Grocery Store minutes away, no need to go into Rapid City. Sites to see.....WOW!! Minutes from Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore, Needles Highway and wildlife. A short day drive to Wall Drugs, Badlands and hit the smaller towns around Rapid City Deadwood, Sturgis and more. I even got my rig washed by a Mobile Washer they recommend. I plan in making Southern Hills one of my annual stops in my travels. You will too.

Very nice campground. Very generous with space in sites. But the traffic noise was terrible. No restrooms were available, guess they were still being built. The laundry was adequate, clean. Pet friendly, lots of room to walk. The staff was noisy in the early morning (6 am) doing their choirs, talking very loudly right outside our windows. Generally, we had a good stay but when we left, there was a misunderstanding of who owned the water splitter. We used our own and the manager thought it... Read More

He called and threatened to charge us if we didn't return it. We finally drove back to resolve the issue as he wouldn't listen to us over the phone. An unfortunate end to an otherwise uneventful stay. Will not go back mainly because of traffic noise.

Fantastic place to stay. Super friendly owners. Free WiFi Packages delivered to your door! No other park has ever done that for me . . . Straight shot on highway to Sam's Club, Walmart Supercenter, Walgreens, Target, Mall, etc. Walk to restaurant and casino.

Stayed for 10 days. Would stay again. Staff friendly, restrooms the cleanest I've seen. People always working on up keep and escorted people to their sites. Centrally located to most attractions for the price, have Wi-fi. Majority of sites pull thru. Pet friendly

This is a great place to stay if you are in the Black Hills area! The park is attractive, quiet, clean and relaxing. The sites are level with gravel parking for RVs and easy access for big rigs. There was plenty of room to park our tow vehicle and each site has a concrete pad with picnic table and a grassy space with tree between each site. Rates are very reasonable. The owners are Rv'ers and live on site. We had no problem with cell coverage and streaming with our MiFi. We found this park... Read More

This was our 1st time in the Rapid City area. We elected to spend 1 month in this park. They had a good rate for a months stay. The location was great easy drive to ALL the sites we wanted to see. The park has new owners as of 2017. They have worked very hard to update the sites and are adding new sites. The sites are wide, Big Rig and Satellite Friendly. The owners and camp host are very friendly and helpful.
