A really awesome place. The RV park itself is basic. 15 sites, located on a river, with full hookups. That's about it no bathhouse, no office. But it's location, just over the river from Damascus, but with green forest and the sound of roaring rapids to sooth you.wow. Loved it. Biggest trick here is the REALLY steep gravel driveways down to the sites. Saw many rigs bottom out and scrape parts. The owners are not on site. There is zero ATT, although Verizon is ok from what we heard. The... Read More

There is zero ATT, although Verizon is ok from what we heard. The WiFi is solid though, so we were able to communicate adequately by e-mail, etc. Why do people come to Damascus, VA? Aside from the beautiful mountains, lush forests and mountain streams.apparently 200,000 folks a year come to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail. A 34 mile long former railroad bed has been converted into a destination bile path. Damascus is right in the middle of the trail and supports at least 6 bike shops that offer bike rentals and more importantly.shuttle service to the top of WhiteTop Mountain where you catch the trailhead for the upper section of the Creeper Trail. Mostly downhill, with some steep sections at the top, it's a thrilling and beautiful ride from 3700' to 2000' back in Damascus, crossing some 23 train trellises and following babbling brooks and roaring rapids. Lower half is 17 miles from Damascus to Abingdon. Much flatter, this section meanders along the river and thru some farm country. Green and pastoral a very relaxing and enjoyable ride. At about the 9 mile mark is the former train station of Alvarado, which has a very nice park by the river with picnic tables and restrooms. Damascus is a very small town, supported almost entirely by the biking and hiking crown (it's a trail crossing for the Appalachian Trail) so there isn't a lot of here, here. Aside form the bike shops and B&B's there is a gas station, Subway, and a grocery store.

This is a true hidden gem in the friendliest town in America! Nothing fancy just a gravel entrance to a small 12 to 15 site RV Park. All back ins but all on the river! It is the FLATEST site I have ever been on. No leveling required! Yes it would be nice if it had concrete pads to back on and a little grass for the kids, but it is still very peaceful and a real treat. The town of Damascus is a quite little town where everyone knows everyone and they treat visitors just like the town folk.... Read More

Make sure you plan to do the Creeper Trail ride (17 miles all down hill) plenty of bike shops to choose from to rent a bike. My personal favorite is Blue Blaze. But they are all mostly good. Also make sure you visit a little place right near the RV Park called 'In the Country'. Great lunch spot or breakfast. Best ice cream selection in a 100 mile radius. The only thing I can say about the park is I wish it had cable hook ups and had cleaned off the river banks to make it a little more accessible to the river. Can not wait to come back and spend more time in our favorite little town!!!!!
