I don't even know how this campground made any list that is specific to RVs. Based on the state parks website, and the ability to get up to a 25 foot RV there, we booked it. By the time we were on the road up the hill, we were already over-committed. It's basically a one lane road with a yellow line down the middle. If we'd run into another trailer coming the other way, we all would have been up the creek. But when we finally made it up to our campsite, the space was so small, roads so small, the... Read More

If we'd run into another trailer coming the other way, we all would have been up the creek. But when we finally made it up to our campsite, the space was so small, roads so small, the only way out was uphill on a sharp turn. Our truck gave out on us, even in 4 wheel drive, and we thought we were going to get pulled down off the cliff (did I mention the place was appealing because of it's incredible views? That's because it's very high up!). My husband's miraculous reversal and parking skills is all that got us out of there a different direction, and back down the hill, worried constantly that we'd run into another trailer. I kept double checking the CA Parks site and the ReserveCalifornia site, because I was sure there had to be a warning and I missed it. But no - they actually market to RVs - and I would say the road up isn't safe for an RV, except maybe a tiny teardrop or tent trailer. But once you're there, getting out is insanely difficult, and incredibly dangerous. When you're driving that road, with our 23 foot trailer, you've got maybe 1.5 feet between you and the cliff, with nothing stopping it. I highly recommend RVs avoid this. Go up in a vehicle for tent camping, if you really want to check it out.
