This is a great park. Very well maintained. Beautiful view. Easy in and out, would certainly stay here again.

Wow! What a state park! We were passing through the area and wanted to find somewhere near the USS Alabama for an overnight. We stayed at Meaher in our 30' TT. The sites are level sites surrouned by trees on almost every side. There is a lot of shade, and even better - the breeze blowing off the bay is fantastic on a hot summer afternoon. The sites are fairly spaced out, easy to maneuver into, and fairly level. The hookups were easy to manage, though our water was a little tricky. We... Read More

The sites are fairly spaced out, easy to maneuver into, and fairly level. The hookups were easy to manage, though our water was a little tricky. We had to open the box and turn the knob inside to get the spicket to work (the spicket wouldn't shut off otherwise). There is a fishing dock on one end, a beach (for fishing/not swimming) on the other, and there is a grassy hike that leads to a raised boardwalk out over the low areas of the estuary. From there you can easily see gators in the evening and some of the biggest black and yellow grasshoppers I've ever seen. My kids (and I) were mesmerized by the nature here. I only wish I had brought a pole with me to fish. Once the sun went down we sat outside and watched cars across the bay, having marveled at the great sunset. It was a great stay and we would certainly stay here again. It ended up being only about 7 minutes down the road from the USS Alabama.

First time there and we enjoyed the park. For a state park it is awesome! Alabama does their parks right! We were right on the water and minutes from the USS Alabama where our ten year old grandson wanted to go.
