Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Had the family and grandkids with us and they all had a ball. Campground was clean and very nice for a state park. Manatee Springs was in walking distance and awesome! Centrally located to a number of other springs and Cedar Key. We will be staying here again.

Manatee sightings - worth the trip! Manatee Springs was the third of the Florida State Parks we visited over the course of the past month. We found much to enjoy at each park, and here it was the beautiful boardwalk along the spring and the opportunity to kayak with the manatees. We observed them from the boardwalk and then decided the only way to really experience them was on the water. Kayaks and canoes are available for rent and so worth the time and money. We observed them from the boardwalk and then decided the only way to really experience them was on the water. Kayaks and canoes are available for rent and so worth the time and money. The spring is crystal clear and we were able to float alongside these majestic creatures as they traveled around the spring. We even spent time observing a mom and her calf. As far as the park itself, the road into the Hickory loop was quite a bumpy adventure along a sandy pothole-filled road - use caution! We were in sites 65 & 66 which were shady and spacious, but could use some work to make them more level. The bathrooms were not great as they were dirty by day's end (possibly due to the campground being dirt and sand) and the hot water never got really hot but was adequate. This is in a rather remote area of Florida, and you seriously cannot get Verizon service unless you go to the concession area where there is usually a crowd attempting to find coverage and then it is spotty. So, plan on unplugging and just enjoying nature while you are here.
