What a great place! Beautiful views, interesting history, convenient to Taos, Red River, Angel Fire and Cimmaron. Lots of activity in the park. Fishing nearby and if you get a space in the upper lot a great view of the lake. Friendly and helpful management, lots of folks from Oklahoma and Texas escaping the heat, as were we, everyone very friendly. We spent a month here and would have stayed longer but a family death hastened our departure. Great music every Friday morning at the Farmer's Market, and more music every Friday and Saturday night. Also movie nights and karaoke nights. In August the town celebrates with Eagle Fest, lots of fun with music, soap box races and even hot air balloons. We had a 50 amp pull thru site. Sites were very close, but the views and activities more than made up for it. Very pet friendly, I guess you can stay without a pet, but it seemed every one had at least one dog.
We arrived with a major problem with our 5th Wheel, that could have potentially ended our weekend. Nathan (the owner) came over and fixed our problem in 5 minutes! He was a wealth of information, always ready to help out, very friendly and would not accept money for his consulting time. He helped us so much. The Office staff provided great recommendations as to things to do in the area and were also friendly and helpful. The RV park is clean, well organized, quiet, and has an amazing view of the lake and mountains. I would highly recommend this park whenever you are traveling to the area. A+ rating!!
Great park with a view. Owners bend over backwards to make you welcome. Other campers are very friendly and will love to visit. Not cliquey by any means! Lots of weekly activities, entertainment, farmers market, great grill. I’m definitely returning next year.
We grew up in state parks with lots of trees and good size spaces. Campgrounds are unique to the location and this is no different. We were there for a single overnight so we had a small pull through site. The sites overall were small but we drove by a couple other campgrounds in Eagle Nest and they were as well. By far this was the best we saw in this little village. What makes this place so special is it's right outside of the village with a short walk in to town. Also the people were awesome and the bathrooms super clean and nicely rustic. They have a Chuck Wagon on site with excellent hand made food and a gathering room with a tv and kitchen, games, books and free coffee which was very nice. Also a great outdoor community fire pit open for use any time.
This place had some slightly larger sites but overall not a lot of space to spread out. So it all depends on what you're looking for in a campground but the people who run this place are the best....ooh...also a nice gift shop with local stuff.
Have camped there several times. Great owners, very friendly atmosphere. Each day always something planned for campers, 4x4 trips, crafts class, movie night, bingo, never a dull moment. Plans are to return again this year. Have been camping for almost 10 yrs. and this is the only campground we return to each year.
GREAT PEOPLE SUPER FRIENDLY, ONLY ISSUE IS THERE WAS A DOG BARKING ALL NIGHT, THEY TRIED TO GET IT TO HUSH BUT I NEVER DID....WE HAVE STAYED HERE BEFORE AND LOVE THE CAMPGROUND...THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WE HAD AN ISSUE...SUPER HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE HERE.
