Very helpful staff and a well stocked campers store. Large level sites. Paved roads. Very neat and tidy. Follow the directions closely off #81. We can definitely recommend this one.

We stayed overnight on our way south and it’s easy off, easy on to 81. Clean, very friendly, great store, and there is a delivery pizza and dinner restaurant with great prices. Needed that after a long day on the road. Great spacious dog run.

When I made reservations they told me all they had available for my dates was a "premium" site. I said fine. When we arrived what they called premium was actually 2 sites. There was nothing premium about this other than the extra room. The raised gravel pad for your rig was very narrow. I am very appreciative that the escort helped me back in on this narrow strip. Because of the pad height and slope of the ground it made the height of the first step of the camper about 15". This was difficult for my wife to get in and out. I feel to be classified a premium site and charged at a premium rate there should be something premium about it. The store is well stocked. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are clean. If we were to stay here again I would be very careful of what site they put me on.

We Stopped for two days. Had an early check in fee for being 30 min early for a site that was already ready. Sites need to be re-leveled. Grounds were well kept, roads are narrow. Wifi was poor at best. Both Male and Female bathrooms are in need of complete overhaul! Outside staff were course, boarder line rude. Office staff was ok, evening staff inadequately trained to answer questions. Visitors have to pay just to visit their parents for a little while, even not using facilities. Will not stop again and would not recommend it either.

Easy check in. Very friendly. Escort to site. Chose the luxury pull thru. Cement pad, grill, table and chairs. Paved roads, nice playground. Clean facilities, laundry, restrooms. Campground is the cleanest I’ve seen. Great location near attractions, eg. Downtown Winchester, golf course, and easy on/off to Route 37. Spacious sites throughout the campground.

Came in after dark and was shown to my site. As a new camper I had explained to the person who took my reservation that we were new and might need help. A wave of the hand from from the person in the golf cart was all we got. Being unfamiliar with the site I thought I was to keep following the cart. Cut a corner to close and took the awning off our new camper. I do not blame the camp ground for this as I said I am inexperienced. However the staff did absolutely nothing to help us. Due to the damage we had to spend a second night and while waiting for a repair team to arrive we received a phone call telling us we must pay at once for our additional night. No we are sorry, no can we help in any way, no your director was not clear, no nothing. Just pay us full price for a second night and an additional fee if you want wi-fi. Only the camp maintinance man offered us any sort of help. Keep this in mind if this is a place you might want to stay..

stayed here on the way to Fla. Didnt use any of the restrooms or other facilities. The check in was easy, staff was friendly, store looked well stocked although i was to tired to really look. Liked the paved roads..we had a pull thru which was paved and level.. dog park was nice for our beagle. Was open year round, looked like most people were there for a day or 2. Internet worked well, didn't need to use my hot spot. Cable was good..lower channels a bit fuzzy. I would have given it at 5, but had the noise from the highway and the auction next door..I would definitely stay again. We were in H-1

This campground most of staff very unfriendly and rude. They nickel and dime you for everything. Ladies restrooms VERY,VERY DIRTY and smelled of urine. So much traffic noise so close to a highway. Sites are not great. Would never go back. It was not a nice experience.

Loved our stay in our travel trailer at this campground The staff were friendly and very helpful. The campgrounds were kept really nice and clean. We enjoyed the pool. The small store had a nice selection of things you might need as well as ice cream and snacks. Nice parking with shade and picnic table. They also had cable hookup . The sewer and water electric hookup were great. The bathrooms were little dated but fine. When you sit outside you can hear the highway but it wasn't very loud and inside the RV we didn't hear it at all. We really enjoyed it and hope to stay again. We stayed two nights going to our destination and one night coming back.

We stayed at Candy Hill for two months. The location was great for us. We were within walking distance to a Walmart, McDonald's and fruit/vegetable vendors. Old Town Winchester is just minutes away and offers antiques and a multitude of quaint restaurants. Within 45 minutes to 1 hour are civil war sites, a casino & racetrack, Skyline drive, Luray Caverns etc. Washington DC is quite a distance but doable in a very long day. The camp sites are varied, some better than others. Be very specific about your needs, i.e. if you need to set up a dog pen, make sure your site is not on a hill! We found the staff helpful and fun. Our site was in the back away from the highway, it was nicely shaded, level and quiet. We also had an onsite RV mechanic multiple times, he was escorted to our site and we had no problems with this. The dog run was fantastic, one of the largest we've seen. We camped in a 35' Class A motor home. On-site storage worked well for our motorcycle trailer but we had to get permission before we could visit it. This was inconvenient but we appreciate the extra security.

Was assigned site B-09 a cement site. Good RV supplies in store, limited food, black top roads, courteous staff, good pool, nice dog release area, some sites small, some sites very small, highway next to campground (little noisy) but overall the stay was great. Will return.

We only stayed at Candy Hill one night traveling thru, but it's a very nice park. The location is good and it's quiet. Our site was level and we had no problems backing into it with a 40' 5th wheel. The park is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. Clean bathrooms, we didn't use them, so not sure how the water pressure is for showers. They have lots of amenities to keep kids busy and a nice pool area. I saw one review complain that the "hot tub" was closed during a specific time, they don't have a hot tub, that is a kiddie pool area, lol. We'd like to go back thru and actually spend a bit of time there. Only negative I can think of is that we ordered pizza delivery from a local place that was suggested when we arrived and the pizza was literally room temperature when they brought it to us. Clearly not the parks fault, but if you are ordering pizza delivery, I'd choose it from a different place. ;)

A good overnight stop. In winter they disconnect the water overnight even if it is not freezing. In my case they dropped it in the dirt because i did not do it myself. I did not liked it because of the contamination risk. They would not listen to my complaint and sticked to their procedure saying it was for their protection and not mine they were interested in. So be advised no water even if you pay for it.

May just be me,but I like more trees. wide open. restrooms were descent but showing some age. we were there during a cold spell so they shut off your water below 34 degrees (or at 8:00 pm if above). luckily one of the maintenance guys was nice enough to turn on our water long enough to fill our fresh tank (the other guy wasnt as accommodating). otherwise we'd of had to hookup & pull around to the dump station. rael nice place to stay for a weekend or a stop over convenient to interstate 81.

In many ways a nice park, clean, with friendly staff and full hookup utilities all worked well including cable and WiFi. Older but decent shower/bathroom facilities. Good paved roads with gravel pads and some had concrete patios. Large big rig friendly sites are well spaced and level. Lots of activities for kids, a nice pool and a well stocked store. All in all, everything you want in a nice park. However, highway traffic noise was terrible all night long. To be fair, we were in a site on the highway edge of the park so if you plan to stay ask for a site away from the highway and it might be better. There is a gas station on the corner where you turn to the park and a Walmart and more gas the next light west of the turn off. Paid $47.32 w/ gs

Not a real friendly reception here in Winchester, Virgini; doubt that we'll be back - ever. Too many other places to go to have to endure rude behavior from check in staff. They clearly do not want our business! I recommend that everybody skip this RV park. We arrived in the early afternoon in our 20' class-B Sprinter van-based RV. We did not stop where a sign indicated to stop to register, as another RVer was connecting his rig to his pickup and I would have prevented him from maneuvering had I stopped where the sign said to. When my wife and I walked into the office, the woman abrasively said, "first off- YOU did not stop where the sign said you should." I pointed out that I hadn't because I did not want to prevent the other person from being able to connect to his rig. The retort to this was "he's already over the clock and should have been out of here hours ago." My wife asked if they had any availability for the night. Office check-in woman: "do you have a reservation?" Wife: "No, but we were hoping...". Office woman, "humph!" Wife: "we've stayed here before, and enjoyed it; we're Good Sam members." I left the office at this point because the tone of the conversation was extremely unpleasant, and my wife is much more understanding than I. When my wife returned to our RV - I told her that "I didn't need that; let's go on." My wife said that she'd already paid for a full-hookup spot. My wife also said that the woman in the office continued to be most unpleasant and said that I had also been driving too fast after entering the campground (the posted speed limit is 5MPH; I do not believe that I was ever over 10MPH). We indicated to the escort to our site that the office woman had been unnecessarily offensive and that we were unlikely to return. Later, after we had set-up, somebody else, a man identifying himself as the manager, drove up to our RV in a golf cart. He indicated that he had heard that there was a problem, apologized, we relayed the facts above from our perspective and said that although this was our third stay here, it was unlikely that we would do so again. Which is true, there are simply too many other nice places and life is too short to have to deal with unnecessarily nasty people.

This is a great campground. We stayed one night on our way north and liked it so much we stayed for 2 nights on the way back. It is clean and the sites are well-laid out. The only issue is the highway noise, which got better by bedtime...

A very nice campground. Friendly staff, fair prices, there can be a bit of highway noise but once you settle in to the pleasant surroundings who notices! Very convenient to fuel, Walmart, restaurants and not far off U.S. 81. We plan many more trips there in the future.

While searching for campgrounds in the Winchester / Front Royal area we kept coming across Candy Hill. We were in the area over the Labor Day weekend and stopped in to look it over and decided to book 5 days in mid October. We arrived on Friday and went in to register and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Once registered they led us to the site and guided us into place. We walked around the grounds every evening and they were always clean and neat. The bathroom and shower house was clean although it is starting to show some age. The camp store was well stocked and very clean. The campsites are a little closer together than I am use to but there was still plenty of room for slides and awnings. The campground is right off of the highway so there is highway noise. One thing we found interesting is the amount of transit traffic they get this time of year. Every evening they fill up with people passing through and they are on their way the next morning. It is conviently located near I-81. We will visit again if camping in the area.

VERY RUDE people working there. When you ask for a pull through when making a reservation they ask for your TT length. If you don't respond or ask again about a pull through they yell at you 'How long is your trailer'. They have very few pull throughs and you end up with a back in space. Restrooms very dated, campground is nice, but people are very rude. I'll by pass this CG next time.

If I could give them six stars..I would..during our stay here our little green cheek conure went missing. The staff showed up at our motorhome at 11 pm and help us search inside the camper and the campgrounds..they are great. Bath house was well maintained. Pool was cleaned and there is ample supplies for Rvs. Plenty of food and goodies. We will be back.

We paid $52.00 with a Good Sam discount. Seems a bit high for what you get but this is the only game in town. Cable and Wifi available. Great location 3 miles out of historic Winchester and about 6 miles from I-81. Cacapon Resort State Park is 28 miles north on route 522. The quaint town of Berkley Springs is just 7 miles further north. Some sites are concrete slabs, some are gravel, both pull-thru and back-in sites available. Our pull through site allowed us to stay connected for an overnight. No leveling necessary on paved pad. There is a pool, playground and lots of open space, rolling topography. The bathrooms are very outdated and need a serious update. Old wooden doors on the toilets but clean. Showers were roomy with a plastic shower curtain but dressing area was not private; consisted of a bench just outside the shower curtain, not enclosed. We will stay there again...great spot for overnight or for visiting interesting areas nearby.
