We stayed two nights while visiting the Lincoln Museum and House. I would definitely stay here again. We were in the part of the campground with the large trees. The site pad is gravel and very close to level, required minor use of levelers. The park is quite and dark at night. After a long day of driving we enjoyed the hiking trail they built and walked the kinks out of our legs. If you follow their directions locating the park is easy. This campground was the first leg of a loop through Illinois and Iowa. After some challenges getting there from Oklahoma (weather, RV problems, exhaustion), we finally arrived a day late. This campground was the first leg of a loop through Illinois and Iowa. After some challenges getting there from Oklahoma (weather, RV problems, exhaustion), we finally arrived a day late. The lady told us we wouldn’t have had to pay for that first night if we had called to let them know, and they would have kept our site for us. Our problem was we didn’t know until we got there that it would take that long. We kept thinking “we’ll get through this storm”, and then “we’ll just stop and sleep for a couple hours,” and we had already left 8 hours late from home. So, I kept thinking we’d arrive before check-in time for the next day and we’d want to go ahead and have the lot ready for us. If I’d known that the site would have still been available for us the next day, I would have called to let them know. We know for the future now. The sites are spacious and everything in the campground is well kept. The site we had was barely long enough for our 36ft motorized RV towing a 20 ft car hauler with a Pacifica minifan, and then to park the minivan in the lot after taking it off the car hauler (had to kind of angle it in with the rear hanging out a little). They did have pull-through sites that were longer than the one we had, so next time we stay, I’m going to be specific about the length of the pull-through site being able to accommodate all three, the RV, the car hauler, and the car. The walking trail is a bit grown over, but I suspect that is because there has been so much more rain than usual, it’s difficult to keep up with the growth and to get out there with equipment when you won’t sink to your withers in the mud. We would have liked to go swimming in the pool and play some mini-golf, but between the rain, and our family visits away from the campground, we never got the chance. Next time, hopefully we will, and there will be a next time. Great camp!

my overall rating for these folks comes not from the facility itself, it is very nice. kept up and very clean. it has a nice pool and the sites are very nice and level and the hookups are in good condition and well maintained. if you could run a business just on providing these things it would be easy but alas the management seems to get in the mix and mess up the good review. we stayed at this park two times within a two week period recently. i made the first reservation on line and was given a rate of 45 per night and they asked me whether i wanted a shady or an open site. i opted for the shady. upon arrival i could see that the shady spots were not going to work for my roof mounted satellite and chose to instead go with one of the open sites of which they had over a dozen empty to accommadate us. the next morning when i was disconnecting my waterline i forgot my four valved manifold with backflow preventer and left it attached to their water source. that evening when i arrived at my destination i discovered that i had left it behind in springfield, il. i called them and spoke to a very nice lady who i could hear asking someone in the office while i was on the phone if any staff had found it. i could hear a man say yes we have it. I asked the lady if she could save it in the office for me and i would reserve another night with them in a couple of weeks when i returned. she then asked the gentleman to bring it to the office for her and i could hear his not very enthusiastic response that "its here with me". he did not say he would bring it to the office. Well i knew what was going on, he was already using my manifold for his own use...............at no time did anyone think of calling me or emailing me to tell me that i had left this behind.............nope, we'll just take it and use it for ourselves.!!!! i made another online reservation two weeks later and requested the same type of open spot that we had before. i also mentioned that they were saving my water manifold for me the pick up. upon arrival, when i went to pay they said i was express checked in and everything was in order and i was in the same spot as i was before. they also gave me my manifold back that i was grateful for. i noticed that the backflow preventer had been disconnected from its initial place where i had pipe tape and had been moved to another valve location. i didnt look at any of the paper work or anything at the time i just put it in the coach and went about getting hooked up. the next day i looked at the invoice and discovered that i had been charged 50 instead of 45 that i had payed the previous time and that i had been gouged a $5.00 special request fee for the site!!! well their response was that alot of rv campsites do this!!!! well i dont know how you justify that when the previous time i asked for shade and didn't get gouged 5.00!!!! and then the frosting on the cake was they were really snooty about the water manifold..............saying "oh...and you are welcome for saving your expensive equipment and getting it back to you."" REALLY........................ THATS JUST DOING THE RIGHT THING FOR GODS SAKE well if you have hung in there to read all this review i:ll leave it up to you to draw your conclusions!!!! nice campgound, but sub par morals for management.

Came in Sept 9th, 50 Amp electrical worked for 2 hrs. then would not run AC in 95* heat, tried 30 amp outlet. It didn't provide any power. RV'ers on either side and my site 30 AMP outlets worn so bad cords wouldn't work and fell out of receptacle's. Also looked like they've been worn out for an extended period of time. Laundry facilities were adequate, nothing too special. Loved all the Route 66 decor, and the landscaping was very well maintained and beautiful! My only complaint would be that if you bring an extra car, you will pay $5/day for parking, and you are not allowed to park that extra car at your campsite, you have to park it the ONE parking lot off of the frontage road near the front entrance. There is no sidewalk or path to walk back into the campground, so you have to walk on the main entrance road. Upon our arrival, we were allowed to drive the extra car over to the campsite to unload it, and then a gentleman in a golf cart followed me over to the parking lot to give me a ride back to the campsite. After that, I was on my own. Once, during my many walks back and forth to the parking lot, a gentleman that was directing RV traffic at the main entrance even hollered at me to get out of the way of the incoming RV... I suggested a sidewalk or pathway from the parking lot, and he said it was on a to-do list, but they needed more projects involving concrete to make it worth the $. Hopefully they will add some kind of a path from the parking lot soon. I think I might have been less irritated about parking so far away if they didn't charge you $5/day...

Very clean, very well decorated, air conditioned, and water had great pressure and temperature. The pool was very refreshing after driving through some winds during the day. There was a sub shop that delivered dinner for us and was quick. The camp store was stocked with some necessities, and they also had a free book/magazine rack available. The state fair was in town in Springfield, and the park was quite full. We had a very enjoyable nights sleep and will use Double J in the future.

We happened to be there during the huge Route 66 car show, and several downtown city blocks were closed off with the classic cars on display. Absolute must see the Lincoln Presidential Library and museum. Fantastic displays and tons of info and artifacts. Also a fun tour of Lincolns home, which is a National Park.

Older campground in very good repair. New restrooms, large pavilion. Roads fine gravel and well-maintained. Cable in all sites. Sites mainly pull-thru and well-spaced, angled for easy access. Some long-term and seasonal sites, tent area. Walking trail. Staff works hard to maintain appearance of park. Usual camp store items but no souvenirs despite fact that campground is on Historic Route 66. Many Abraham and Mary Lincoln attractions in and around Springfield. Would return.

We needed a site for our trailer near Springfield while attending a family Thanksgiving event. We landed at Double J ... and are sure glad we did. Easy to find. Easy to get into Springfield. Clean, magnificently maintained, quiet (except for a bit of highway noise). Lots of amenities that we didn't get to try out because of the season, but this looks like a great place for family camping while visiting the Lincoln sites.

Campground if very well maintained and restroom/showers are extremely clean. Nice long pull through sites and roads are easy to maneuver. Close to highway for easy on and off. Workers are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again if we are ever back in the Springfield, IL area.

Very nice and clean campground. There are activities there for all - swimming, miniature golf, playgrounds for the kids activities for adults. All the sites are pull-thru, they do have sites available in the winter and Springfield IL is minutes away. We will definitely be staying here again - it's only an hour and a half drive from St. Louis.

We stayed in June of 2017 and found the campground and facilities wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The wi fi was pretty good and the park is beautiful. Very accommodating to pets as well. We wanted to see everything in Springfield and around there and we darn near did. So, we will definitely have to go back and we will definitely stay at the Double J.

The interior roads and sites are gravel. The roads were narrow. The pull through sites were generally long enough for larger coaches to remain attached to their toads. We barely fit into the site with our combination but part of the problem was created by the angle of the adjacent site parking pad. Our site was the only site that had this strange angle combination with the adjacent site. The angles caused a very tight clearance on our departure. The sites were generally level. Not much privacy between the sites. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50 AMP), & sewer connections which were generally mid site. There was an outside table and fire ring. Part of the park has an extensive tree canopy and another portion is open to the sky. Some sites offer a view of the southern sky to get satellite reception. The park information showed 12 cable channels and 12 broadcast channels. There were some long term residents. Only dumpster was near the front of the park. The provided WiFi was adequate. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about cell phone reception. The designated pet areas were not fenced but there they were grassy and sufficient size. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park roads. There was a bag dispenser and cans to collect waste at the pet area. For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, there was a storm shelter with earthen burms rather than below ground. We didn't use the restrooms/showers/laundry room. We would stay here again if passing through the area. TIP: Close enough to Springfield to visit the tourist sites there.

If you park with a wheel even touching the grass they fuss at you. They seem to have an issue with their grass, which is not all that nice. You can't put a mat or even a satellite dish on it. Great camp!

my overall rating for these folks comes not from the facility itself, it is very nice. kept up and very clean. it has a nice pool and the sites are very nice and level and the hookups are in good condition and well maintained. if you could run a business just on providing these things it would be easy but alas the management seems to get in the mix and mess up the good review. we stayed at this park two times within a two week period recently. i made the first reservation on line and was given... my overall rating for these folks comes not from the facility itself, it is very nice. kept up and very clean. it has a nice pool and the sites are very nice and level and the hookups are in good condition and well maintained. if you could run a business just on providing these things it would be easy but alas the management seems to get in the mix and mess up the good review. we stayed at this park two times within a two week period recently. i made the first reservation on line and was given a rate of 45 per night and they asked me whether i wanted a shady or an open site. i opted for the shady. upon arrival i could see that the shady spots were not going to work for my roof mounted satellite and chose to instead go with one of the open sites of which they had over a dozen empty to accommadate us. the next morning when i was disconnecting my waterline i forgot my four valved manifold with backflow preventer and left it attached to their water source. that evening when i arrived at my destination i discovered that i had left it behind in springfield, il. i called them and spoke to a very nice lady who i could hear asking someone in the office while i was on the phone if any staff had found it. i could hear a man say yes we have it.
