One of the best RV parks in which I have stayed . It is a smaller park with 16 large sites. It is in the desert but has two ponds with black Swans. The owners are very helpful and friendly. Off the beaten path but a wonderful place to stay.

We decided to stay here on a whim and based on the one review for this place. It is rustic as you would expect for a place out in the middle of nowhere but not too rustic. The roads and sites are dirt and gravel and well taken care of. Our site had FHU, picnic table and a fire pit. They have a nice covered outdoor patio patio area and small indoor clubhouse. The owners are super friendly. There are many people who camp here long term for the Birding in the area and many people who are into Astronomy. Everyone was friendly and we attended the Potluck and Happy Hour on Friday evening. They supplied pizza and others brought side dishes. They have some exotic birds on the premises and some black swans. We would love to be able to come back and again and spend more time. This was just an overnight stop this time.

Obviously this is desert park so it is not going to be an oasis. However, if you want birding, astronomy, I think hunting or just a fun get away its a great place. The lots are HUGE, most had firepits,. Rusty and the staff are some of the most friendly you will encounter at any park. Friday nights they had a pot luck and supply the main food, we had pizza and wings. Most amazing is a great clubhouse, kitchen patio large screen tv open 24hrs. Haven't seen that before. There is pond with black swans, various birds and fish ponds. 24hr hot tub. It's just a unique place well worth your time. The one oddity is no outside lights because its a popular dark area for the astronomers. The Rodeo tavern and the Cafe/bar in Portal are real local treats and a trip to Douglas to see the old Gaston Hotel is a must. Check it out, you'll like it
